Name: Jeff Miles
Position On Team: Hauler Driver
Hometown: Elmira, New York. Six miles from Watkins Glen.
Can you tell us a little bit about the crazy schedule a hauler driver faces at the first part of the season?
"The first five races are pretty crazy. We go to Daytona, come back for a day, and then we're out west for three weeks. Our wives all like it, but as far as the races go it's crazy. We try not to come home if we can help it, unless we have to. Nothing is the same from Daytona to the other tracks. We'll come home and get the Vegas and Fontana cars, and if things go well we won't have to come home from California, but we'll come home from Vegas and get our Phoenix stuff, then go back to Phoenix. We're home for one day in three weeks.
How do you learn to embrace a schedule like that?
"I like to go fast and bring trophies home."
Is there a track you’d like to get a win at more than any other?
“My two favorites are Bristol and Texas.”
If you had your choice of any track, oval or road course, asphalt or dirt, what would it be?
“They’re all fun when you’re running good, and they all stink when you’re not. I’ve been fortunate enough to win at Daytona three times in three different classes. Daytona’s fun, but it can also be a headache.”
Favorite musical artist?
“Right now it’s Chris Stapleton. Best concert I’ve ever been to.”
Favorite movie?
Sniper.
Hobbies?
“We race all the time. If we’ve got the weekend off, we go to Bowman Gray and watch them race.”
What’s the last thing you bought at Harrison’s?
“I bought a Carhartt jacket and a pair of Georgia boots over there, and my son has a new farm in Tennessee, he came and bought a whole ton of stuff.”
